In the early 2000s, we spent a great deal of time explaining what we do and why it is important. Our prices are derived from the real cost of compensating professional completed-doctorate native-English scientific editors. Our goal is not a profit margin that must actively minimize associates’ pay, which has been achieved elsewhere by churning through graduate students (often deceptively called ‘PhD editors’ while working towards a PhD), relying on non-native speakers (e.g. in India and China), and underpaying revolving subcontractees until they burn out.
