Dr. Jennie Close Jennie received her undergraduate degree in Biology and Chemistry from Whitman College, and was awarded Phi Beta Kappa and Cum Laude honors. She then received a PhD in Neurobiology and Behavior from the University of Washington in 2005 with a thesis exploring the development and stem cell properties of retinal glia. Currently she is a postdoctoral fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Gord Fishell at New York University Medical Center. Her project there focuses on the molecular mechanisms and timing of inhibitory interneuron differentiation in the cortex and olfactory bulb. She is funded by an NRSA through the NIH. Her areas of expertise include neurobiology, molecular biology, transcriptional regulation, genetics, stem cell biology, and developmental biology. She has co-authored numerous peer-reviewed papers, reviews, grants and book chapters. |
